The last harvest

I think we almost got the last fruit on stock.
Most of it doesn't keep for a long time, so we use as much as possible as long as it's fresh. Then we store otherwise, by drying or freezing.
It's a well known quote that "one bad apple can spoil the bunch" - and it's true.
When the fruit start to ripen, the picking of fruits start.

Collect all useable fruits on the ground in the morning. This is bruised fruit, and must be used as soon as possible the same day. Bake a cake, put it on glass or in the freezer.
Picked fruit we handle with care. Don't shoot hoops into the fruit basket :-)
This fruit can be stored.
We store fruit in little "trays," (waste frim groceri shopping) so the fruits don't touch each other. If one goes bad, it won't spoil the rest over night.
If you don't have trays like that, old newspaper can be used just as fine.
We tend to our storage frequently. If one piece of fruit seems "funny", we throw it away immediately.
We have never gone through a winter without buying fruits, and we use up all the fruits we grow, so we will need more trees to be totally self sufficient.
But since we wish to move, we haven't planted more trees.
