Update on free homemade safran

It's still a bit early, but our safran crocus has started to show themselves with tiny little purple flowers that will soon bloom, and then we'll be ready for harvest.

As written when I got the bulbs, this is just for the fun of it. I think we are able to manage a year with this, but only because we don't use much safran.

If you don't have a lot of extra space to "play" with, this would definitely not be my choise to plant.

The planting box is covered by a piece of chicken fence.
That's only cause our cats loves to dig in the loose dirt, when we have been planting. So to avoid safran crocus in odd places, I covered the fresh planted bulbs with a fence.

As you see, the area needs some cleaning. Weeds has started to grow, so it might not be particularly pretty, and a day in near future I hope for a little sun and warmth, then I'll get that done. But homemade safran for the seriously self sufficient people, this is actually all you need.
Enjoy a nice paella with homemade safran selfsufficient style ;-)
